Justification on ignorant practices

Har Har Mahadeva.
Few Ignorants who wants to booze/Alchol & Fag/Ciggrates, They would justify by saying even Bhagwan Shiv smokes weads & even the Devtas drink alchol.

Non of the scriptures mentions about Bhagwan Shiva ever had anything ignorant as such as claimed by people who cant control their senses but wants to sound good & so they Justify by BLAMING that even Bhagwan Shiva does it & so we are following his steps. Bhagwan Shiva even Drank poison so why can you drink poison?
Indeed Shiv Puran says - The householder taking the rite shall avoid heavy indigestible pulses like Nispava, Masurika etc. stale food, defiled food, brinjals, gourds, cocoa-nuts, garlic, onion, "INTOXICATION" and all kinds of meat. (Siva Purana 7.10-12)
--
There is Madira/Alchol & There is Somras/Nectar
Varuni Madira is an Alchol which came after churning the ocean "Samudra Manthan" & was Taken by the Danavas/Atheist team & So only the demons prefer drinking madira/Alchol.
Somras is a Fruit juice mainly the Tad fruit which is consumed by the Theist.
People should not Justify Scriptures/hevenly bodies for the sake of their desire, if they want to please do with your free will. Stop Spreading Wrong message by demotivating the hevenly deities for your pleasure.
( Soma and Sura(alcohol) are different.the effect Soma is rather opposite to that of Sura :
Som Ras was originally believed to have been created by none other than Lord Brahma. The process of its creation was kept secret an...d was only passed on the 7 men chosen by the Bramha himself. These Seven men were later known as the Saptarishis.
The Sapta Rishi’s then passed on the same to their followers. The Som Ras was believed to have the medicinal power to keep the human body from degeneration. It is said, that just as the Oxygen helps us in breaking down the food particles and thus helping in digestion, it also oxidises our body cells thereby causing degeneration of the body cells. But, the SomRas helps the body to get rid of the extra oxygen and there by stopping the degeneration of body cells there by helping the body to stay young and look like young even if the actual age of the person is way beyond 100 years...
In Vedic period there were two drinks told. one is Soma and another is Sura. The two drinks that are quoted in Vedic texts are Soma and Sura . The Rigveda describes soma as a godly concoction, while sura is described as mainly a human drink. However, the Yajurveda deifies sura and uplifts it to the status of soma .
Soma is an invigorating plant product generally prepared by squeezing juice from plants. The following statements give an indication of fermentation:

Admixture of a thick juice of Soma with barley powder ( RV . IX. 68.4). This statement is a clear indication of fermentation with barley. Fifteenth day old highly intoxicating Soma ( RV . X.27.2). In this statement fifteenth day probably refers to the broth fermented in the vat for 15 days. Soma being treated is red( RV .IX.82: 1). All these statements give an indication of fermentation technology involved in the preparation of Soma.
Evidence in the Yajurveda About Sura Banam:
The Sukla Yajurveda ( Vaj. XIX. 13-15; 82-83) describes the formation of two stimulating drinks, Sura and Parisrut . Sura was supposed to be prepared from germinated paddy, germinated barley, and parched rice with the help of ferment. Yeast was used most often as the fermenting agent.
The Katyayana Srauta sutra (XV, 9.28-30; XIX, 1-2) also gives a complete description of the preparation of Sura . According to this method either boiled rice or boiled barley was mixed with the ferment and also with masara and the entire mixture was kept in a jar. The jar was then kept in a pit for three nights. Meanwhile, cow's milk and powdered parched rice were poured in the pit.
What is the Soma actually?
Soma is a plant found in the north west frontier region of pakistan, and bordering afghanistan. Its stem when boiled in water is called Somras. its a analgesic, probably aphrodasiac. Soma is known to most readers as the stimulant, euphoriant and hallucinogen in Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World. Few people know that the plant soma actually exists and has been used as a narcotic since the time of India's earliest civilizations.

In Ancient Indian mythology Soma, the brother of Indra, was the giver of health, courage, long life, a sense of immortality, and almost every other virtue known. As a narcotic, soma is thought to have originated in the Hindu Kush mountain range of northeast Afghanistan. There is evidence that Aryan invaders carried the plant to India and Persia, where it was readily adopted because of its psychoactive properties. Many of the hymns of the Rig-Veda, which were sung earlier than 800 B.C, refer to soma as a liquor and as a god.
Soma has to be differentiated from Sura (physically intoxiating alcohol ) made from grapes or grains). Soma is a CONCEPTUAL beverage of Gods , which is described as Truth (Sathyam), Auspiciousness( Sri:) , light /radiance (Jyothi:) . SurA in contrast is untruth (anrutham), misery (Paapmaa) and darkness ( tama:). Soma leads to Jnanam (enlightenment ) and Anandham ( bliss):
In ancient history is telling that It is a herb which when immersed in hot water, developed into a strong concoction that gaveenergy to the person drinking it. Something similar to redbull. Soma banam was actually good. Sura banam is the one which can be equated toliquor and this was supposed to be have been consumed by the asuras.
This is mentioned in the Srimad Bhagavatam chapter 10 canto 8 saying the demons as sura warriors.)

Importance of tulsi mata

A person without wearing a tulsi Kanthi offering even water, that waters is considered as Alchol :( Sad, people do not care about our old Vedic Practise. Tusli Kanti should always be worn by everybody.
Scientifically - Astma can be cured just by wearing a kanthi, it helps us purify polluted air while inhaling.
Even if a sinner wears a tulsi Kanthi Yamraja orders Chitraketu to tear the page from his book of good/bad deeds because the person is suppose to reach Vainkutha directly & Sri Hari Vishnu would take care if the person needs to be punished or not.
Few Benifits from Scriptures- Those who wears a tulis Kanthi/tulsi beeds on their kanth/neck & eats prashadam/food, every grain equals to the fruits obtained via Ashwamedha Yagya. Single grain = 1 ashwamedha yagya.
Those who takes a tulsi pot & offer it to the supreme, he gets 60 crore years of residence in Vainkutha Dhama & later enter the maharas leela with Sri Krishna.
Those who wears even a single, smallest bead or just one grain of tulsi in his kanth/neck & takes bath the person gets the same fruit which is earned by taking bath in ALL PILGRIMAGE PLACE HOLY WATER like Ganga, Yamuna, godavari, Chandrabhaga etc.
The following are some verses from the Hari Bhakti Vilasa
yah punas tulasi-malam krtva kanthe janardanam |
pujayet punyam apnoti pratipuspam gavayutam ||326||
One who engages in the worship of Sri Janardana while wearing tulasi neckbeads accumulates piety equivalent to giving ten thousand cows in charity for each of his flower offerings.
tulasi-kastha-sambhutam yo malam vahate narah |
phalam yacchati daitarih pratyaham dvarakodbhavam ||332||
A person who wears tulasi neckbeads all the time obtains the result of living in Dvaraka.
tulasi-kastha-malam tu preta-rajasya dutakah |
drstva nasyanti durena vatoddhutam yatha dalam ||337||
tulasi-kastha-malabhir bhusito bhramate yadi |
duhsvapnam durnimittam ca na bhayam sastrajam kvacit ||338||
Just by seeing the tulasi beads on a person’s neck, the Yamadutas flee to a distant place. A person who wanders here and there after putting on tulasi neckbeads has nothing to fear from an accident, bad dreams, or weapons.
These are very few Glories of Shrimati Tulsi Maharani who resides on the Lotus feets of Sri Hari Vishnu.

SAVE COWs

What happened when ever we wanted to save mother cow/Gow mata after Independence?
1. The first Bill - 90% agreed on passing this bill by hindus & muslims both but one person denied whose name was PANDIT JAWAHARALAL NEHRU THE BIGGEST RASCAL in the history of INDIA who said I would give my resignation if this bill is been passed. WE FAILED
2. Saints formed a huge rally to cover the entire Parliament & not allow anybody leave or enter the parliament until Mother cows are not been saved, DIRTY LADY, PRIME MINISTERINDIRA GANDHI order for shootout on Kripatriji maharaj & thousands of other saints on this issue & were brutally killed. (Indira was cursed by the disciple of Kripartiji maharaj due to which INDIRA was assassin on Gopastmi tithi which was the same day when these divine saints were been brutally killed on her order for shoot out) WE FAILED
3. Few years back the bill was pass at the time of Atal biharji Vajpai's rule in the morning time but was taken back in the evening time due to some dirty political pressure on Vajpaiji who would always be our beloved leader but still. WE FAILED
4. In the parliment, Susri Mamta Banerje said I eat Cow flesh which is my holy rights due to which the hearing was declared "Would any butcher stop killing cow which is their source of earning?" WE FAILED
5. In a Parliament, Rastrapati J.J Sohail - I eat Cow flesh often so what would happen to me? This issue once again failed our mission on GOW RAKSHA
• 1966: Parliament gheraoed, police firing. Gulzarilal Nanda Commission appointed.
• 1979: Resolution banning cow slaughter passed by Lok Sabha, subsequently Bill tabled by Janata government.
• 1982: Prime Minister Indira Gandhi writes to state governments to enforce ban
• 1985: Private member’s Bill by A.K. Patel. Not approved.
• 1990: Private member’s Bill by G.M. Lodha, BJP. Resolution moved, rejected despite support by Congress MPs like Vasant Sathe.
WHATS NEXT?
Mother cow are been brutally killed not due to any religious cause but due to politics, the report says - Cow beef is very cheap & it is been consumed less compared to other meats, however Cow is killed for few other things which are been EXPORTED to foreign countries.
Blood for many vitamins tablet, most capsules used by women’s due to pregnancy. etc
Bones for Calcium used in our toothpaste, medicines, cosmetics, soap, shampoo. etc
Leather for many leather products like shoes, bag, jacket etc.
These are the main reason in which the Indian Government is filling their pockets & presently declared to modernise big slaughter houses in Bharata, where 4000 cows were been killed, now there would be 12,000 cows killed in a place like DEVNOR slaughter house. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Jai Gow mata ?

Vedic Planetary

Vedic Planetery system
Vedic Scriputres gives few distance from one planet to another which the Mordern Science just found out recently but not with much details as mentioned in our Vedic Text.
*NOTE 1 YOJANA = 13KMS
... Distance from Dhruvaloka (the pole star) to the Sun
is 3,800,000 yojanas
Distance from Dhruvaloka to Maharloka/Rishiloka 10,000,000 yojanas
Distance from Maharloka to Janaloka 20,000,000 yojanas
Distance from Janaloka to Tapoloka 80,000,000 yojanas
Distance from Tapoloka to Satyaloka/Brahmloka 120,000,000 yojanas
Distance from the Sun to Satyaloka 233,800,000 yojanas (3,039,400,000 kms)
Covering of the Universe 260,000,000 yojanas (3,380,000,000 kms) away from the Sun, each covering layer is 10 times bigger than previous
Distance from the Sun to the Earth Lower planetary systems called Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talatala, Mahatala, Rasatala and Patala can be read in Brahma Sahita & other purans.
Distance from lower planets to Shesha Naga lying on the Garbhodaka Ocean 30,000 yojanas
The information is Given by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada from the vedic Scriptures.
If we go through our Science text the distance is somewhat the same & if by any means it is wrong it would be corrected & would be matched with our Vedic Calculations in future.

Spritual journey invites problems

Entering a Spritual journey is as good as swimming in a River in the opposite direction, the current would always make us fall but still we need to keep trying & move ahead.
Moral:  When we pass out in our term we wait for our finals & same like from School days we wait to turn a graduate where we face many problems, & higher edcuation with many more problems sameway Entering in to Spritual life is inviting problems, not every student can be a FIRST class Graduate & so not everybody can be a First Class devotee.
Few exams which we need to overcome.
*When a person starts wearing a tulsi kanthi or a tilak on his/her forehead people would demotivate them by calling them with diffrent names, A babaji, A sadhuji etc, what is all this old tradition?
--- A person gives up wearing a kanthi, tilak & fails in the first exam, if he anyhow passed this exam  by not getting demotivated he would face more problems.
*Business problems - These problems would come not because God wants to see him in pain but he is seeing if we really got faith in him at time of loss & profits?
--- Out here many gives up their spritual life & once again enter in material life but if anyhow they passed this exam....
*Family problems - Family would start demotivating their spritual practise, this is not your age to do all such things, they might wont behave good with us & do ---    --- something opposite our belief for eg. Food, devotee wont prefer tamsik food but family would prepare tamsik food forcefull to tease the person.
Out here many devotee accepts their family needs & falls down or would be a devotee & also follow what the family members say.
* Marital problems - Most of the time such person would get a wife/Husband who is totally opposite of sprituality.
--- Person who already faced so many problems in life is now prepared to face such bigger problems by accepting what her wife/Husband needs but from heart would do what the soul requires, when time passes both would sail in the sameboat with one destination & attain liberation.
After the exams are passed, life turns simple & stable & the best part of Sprituality is. A pure devotee would always get the strength to face any problems in his/her life & would never demotivated by the mercy of God. Such a devotee would still not get what he desires but would get exactly he deserves in life/what exactly a soul deserves.

Even plants got a life so why do we eat them?

Many people for the a sake of justification from the scriptures & to not prove themselves as a Murdere & to gratify their sense of taste by feeding on innocent lives, they doubt on Gods creation & asks/says us few baseless things.
//"We got Cannine teeths as God's gift to eat flesh so why cant we?"//
Yes - Gita says "Jivo Jivasays Jivanam", Translation - "One living entity is food for another ...in the struggle for existence", even plants are considered with a life/soul & so we did proved in our earlier post about how plants/crops are made for us to survie.

Padma Puran states - There are 84,00,000 species & in Bhagwatam & other purans the creation is been mentioned in a Particular order.
First came plants, later water creatures, later birds, later came land animals & atlast came humans, this can be proved even Logically. If Plants never appeared how could anything surive? So it has to appear first & human body is very rare, after passing from all those 84,00,000 species the soul gets Holy cow's body & atlast gets a human body. Cows are sacred, very innocent, when they leave their material body the soul gets a body of a human because they are, innocent & loving.
*Reincarnation concept is diffrent from this topic which we can discuss later.
*Note: The only reason the new generation taking birth are very aggresive by nature, because one main reason is due to those innocent Holy mother cows are been slaughtered by the butchers on the name of Money & religion, when innocent cows are killed with cruelty the human body they get would anyways be cruel/aggresive. Many Cows die naturally & such divine souls are rare to take human birth in present Kaliyuga.

SO....Man has to survie on some life as said In Gita & so plants are made at the first place because it is always better to do SMALLER SINS by EATING VEGTABLES rather than BIGGER SINS like killing the innocent animals however eating Vegetables after offering to Gods deity is not a sin as mentioned in GITA - 3.13 – The devotees of the lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food which is offered first for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment , verily eat only sin”.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
But what if someone lives in a country like Russia or few norther parts of this GLOBE where Vegetarian is unavail?
To survie, a person who did smaller sin by eating vegetables can now do a sin by havign fish, no fish can have birds, no birds can have land animals but mother cow should never be harmed in whatever situation & this is the law which is very very "EXCEPTIONAL", this was the law which holds no value in todays world where Vegetarian food is avail in almost each & every part of the country/state.
Apart from what the scriptures says is only so that a person eats for the sake of surviving & not survie for the sake of eating the innocent animals & with devotional activites they can wipe out their bad sins, such cases are exceptional due to which Cannine teeths are given, but if the person is me who gets no Vegetarian food, I would prefer to die before surving on any other living Son who is now in an animal body given by the supreme personality of Godhead. Beloved teachings of Vedic Scriptures, many sages, saints use to survie only on those leaves which were fallen from the trees, they wont even harm a tree for food. Austerity is one of the best practise mentioned in our Scriptures & with the power of austerity millions of soul earned a lot many boons & most of them got Liberated from the cycle of birth & death. (Even in kaliyuga by doing Anshanvrat/Fasting by Ramdev baba & Annaji can shake the Government, no matter whatever the conclusion is but they did shake the enitire system without a doubt, right? So fasting is very powerfull austerity)

Dhruv maharaj stopped eating for just 6 months & now he owns his own planet called the south pole star/Dhruv loka. Planet, where there is no birth nor death. It is one of the spritual planet of the Supreme almighty which resides in the heart of Khirodakshya Vishnu while destruction takes place at the end of one KALPA (1 kalpa is 4,32,00,00,000 years only or just 12 hours of Sri Brahmaji)
Conclusion: Cannine teeths are given for exceptional cases only. WE SHOULD EAT FOR THE SAKE OF LIVING & NOT LIVE FOR THE SAKE OF EATING because eating, mating, defending & to die is also avail in the dogs Kingdom so whats the diffrence in him & us?
Have anybody seen an carnivirous animals who falls sick after having their meal/flesh, RAW FLESH? But humans thinks we are wise & we shall cook this flesh & add flavour to it & the same food is the reason for his death or health issues. Cant we understand this simple logic that humans cant survie on flesh like the animals does?

Aann bane man, pani bane vani

Ann bane maan, Pani bane Vani
Ann(Food) Maan (Mind) Pani(Water) Vani (Speach)
Food develops mind, water develops speech.

There was a vice saint who never got a thought about committing a sin, once after his lunch from the Kings palace he took a nav/9 lakh ka haar of a Queen & kept it in his bag/chola  &left. Reached his kutir/hut & he realised how come he committed such a sin of robbing the Queens neckless? Out here in the Kingdom the King ordered his Soldiers to search the robber, nobody would dare doubt the Purest of all Sadhus in those days who might have robbed because sadhus are never corrupted minds even today nor in those days. This Sadhu comes to the king & asked the king to not let his men leave in search of robber because I am the robber, everybody assumed may be he is trying to save some soldier who might be a robber because Sadhus are always kind towards everybody, nobody trusted the sadhus word that he might have robbed the necklace, Sadhu swears to God that I am the robber & here is the necklace, King asked the reason what made you rob?
Replied - Because I had food at your Palace, King - So what? He explained how the food can corrupt minds. King asked his men to find out where & how did the food came to his palace. After investigation they found out that once a robber robed some Gold from a Gold smith's shop, the robber was caught by the soldiers & they sold the Gold & got some money which was later been given to the King & this money was used for preparing food & later food distribution/Bhandara.
Gold Smith - They always tend to rob little bit of Gold from their clients & so Vedic Scriptures says to never eat food prepared from a Gold smith’s money.
Robber - Never eat anything from some unknown source of money or Black income.
King - King gets gift's & tax from other Kings & people which even he is not aware of where did it come from?
So the sin/qualities of the Gold smith, Robber, others enters the food & when such food been served those sins enters the food while preparation, later it’s been consumed by somebody & the food develops blood, from blood it turns to flesh which later turns to mind, & mind gets corrupted.
The biggest example would be the temple of Shridi wale Sai Baba, Sorry no offence but out here the maximum wealth been collected is Black money & when such food consumed by devotees, the mind gets corrupted & to be honest most of the Video Game Parlour/GAMBLING parlours runs on the name of Sai Ram or Sai Baba video Game parlour specially in Maharashtra/Mumbai & Pune. Black money can never wipe our bad karmas, we sometimes think I would rob some money & give some amount in donation & this might turn my black money to white, this wont work & the donated black money when used for preparing or buying food it would also corrupt the mind of those innocent Devotees. This is one reason why many people do not eat/drink any were and from anybody, many temples do not accept FUNDS from an unknown source because they know the consequences their devotees going to end up with.
Think twice before eating outdoor food, the reason for corruption, ignorance, robbery, rape and all such sins are due to food consumed from Restaurants, hawkers, hotels, outlets etc which is been cooked with corrupted minds & there isn’t a law to hire a sheaf after reading the purity of his/her mind & so we should always prefer food cooked by our mothers, wife, sister, family members & this creates a Bondage within a family, in olden days this rule was been maintained & families were united because the feelings, love of a mother/wife entered the food & after been consumed by all members it created love among other members in house.
We are what we eat....

Anger is bad

A boy very aggressive comes next to his father complaining about how to control anger?
Father-  Son here is the box full of nails which you need to hammer it on this wall whenever you feel angry on some one.
The son, whenever felt aggressive punched the nail inside the wall,  one day he felt ashamed seeing the wall filled with nails, goes to his father. Father I realised my mistake but now I want to learn how to get rid of such anger?
Father-  Son whenever you feel angry, c control your temper & remove one nail from the wall &  collect it in this box, when the box is full your anger would come to an end.
Son was happy this day, he removed all the nails from the wall after a year & now he can control his anger, goes to his father;  father here is the box filled with nails, I am able to control my anger now, thanks a lot!!
Father- Wait, my son! I am glad you can control your anger but what about those holes which remained on the wall? How would you wipe those holes now?
Moral - Sorry cant wipe out the wrong we committed in life, like the removed nails keeps the scars behind in someone’s heart, how can those get wiped out? Sorry can’t make a dead man alive, sorry can maintain the trust in a broken relationships.
Think twice or trice when anger conquers mind which makes us lose our other senses, it all starts from our eyes by seeing, later come on mouth by using bad words & hate speech, later comes in action, physical. Try to control anger when our first sense "eye" starts reacting .

Lesson from my mother to his aggressive son “Me” in his school days :D

24 Gurus of Bhagwan Dattrey

Guru Sri Dattatreya Teachings ? The twenty four Gurus of Dattatreya When Guru Dattatreya was a child, a king visited the ashram. Because his parents were away, Dattatreya greeted the king and the king saw an inner joy radiating from the boy. The king immediately realized that the boy was gifted with great wisdom and started talking to him.
King: You have been studying with your parents?
Dattatreya: There is much to learn from everyone and everything, not only from my parents.
King: Then you have a teacher? Who is it?
Dattatreya: I have 24 gurus.

King: Twenty-four gurus at such a tender age? Who are they?
--
Dattatreya: Mother earth is my first guru. She taught me to hold those who trample me, scratch me, and hurt me lovingly in my heart, just as she does. She taught me to give them my best, remembering that their acts are normal and natural from their standpoint.

King: Who is your second guru?
Dattatreya: Water it is a force that contains life and purity. It cleanses whatever it touches and provides life to whoever drinks it. Water flows unceasingly. If it stops, it becomes stagnant. Keep moving is the lesson I learned from water.

King: Your third guru?
Dattatreya: Fire. It burns everything, transforming it into flame. By consuming dead logs, itproduces warmth and light. Thus, I learnt how to absorb everything that life brings and how to turn it into flame. This flame enlightens my life and in that light, others can walk safely.

King: Who is your fourth guru, sir?
Dattatreya: Wind is my fourth guru. The wind moves unceasingly, touching flowers and thorns alike, but never attaches itself to the objects it touches. Like the wind, I learned not to prefer flowers over thorns or friends over foes. Like the wind, my goal is to provide freshness to all without becoming attached.

King: The fifth guru, sir? Dattatreya: This all-pervading and all-embracing space is my fifth guru. Space has room for the sun, moon, and stars and yet, it remains untouched and unconfined. I, too, must have room for all the diversities, and still remain unaffected by what I contain. All visible and invisible objects may have their rightful place within me, but they have no power to confine my consciousness.

King: Who is your sixth guru, sir? Dattatreya: The moon. The moon waxes and wanes and yet never loses its essence, totality, or shape. From watching the moon, I learned that waxing and waning-rising and falling, pleasure and pain, loss and gain-are simply phases of life. While passing through these phases, I never lose awareness of my true Self.

King: Who is your seventh guru? Dattatreya: The sun is my seventh guru. With its bright rays, the sun draws water from everything, transforms it into clouds, and then distributes it as rain without favor. Rain falls on  forests, mountains, valleys, deserts, oceans, and cities. Like the sun, I learned how to gather
knowledge from all sources, transform that Knowledge into practical wisdom, and share it with all without preferring some recipients and excluding others.

King: And your eighth guru?
Dattatreya: My eighth guru is a flock of pigeons. One pigeon fell into a hunter's net and cried in despair. Other pigeons tried to rescue it and got caught, too. From these pigeons, I learned that even a positive reaction, if it springs from attachment and emotion, can entangle and ensure.

King: Your ninth guru, sir?
Dattatreya: My ninth guru is the python who catches and eats its prey, and then doesn't hunt
again for a long time. It taught me that once my need has been met, I must be satisfied and not
make myself miserable running after the objects of my desire.

King: Who is your tenth guru?
Dattatreya: The ocean, which is the abode of the waters. It receives and assimilates water from all the rivers in the world and never overflows its boundaries. It taught me that no matter what experiences I go through in life, no matter how many kicks and blows I receive, I must maintain my discipline.

King: Who is your eleventh guru, oh wise one? Dattatreya: The moth is my eleventh guru. Drawn by light, it flies from its dwelling to sacrifice itself in the flame. It taught me that once I see the dawn, I must overcome my fear, soar at full speed, and plunge into the flame of knowledge to be consumed and transformed.

King: The twelth?
Dattatreya: My twelfth guru is a bumblebee who takes only the tiniest drops of nectar from the flowers. Before accepting even that much, it hums and hovers and dances, creating an atmosphere of joy around the flower. It not only sings the song of cheerfulness; it also gives more to the flowers than it takes. It pollinates the plants and helps them prosper by flying from  one flower to another. I learned from the bumblebee that I should take only a little from nature
and that I should do so cheerfully, enriching the source from which I receive sustenance.

King: Your thirteenth guru?
Dattatreya: My thirteenth guru is the honeybee who collects more nectar than it needs. It gathers nectar from different sources, swallows it, transforms it into honey, and brings it to the hive. It consumes only a bit of what it gathers, sharing the rest with others. Thus I should gather wisdom from the teachers of all disciplines and process the knowledge that I gain. I must apply the knowledge that is conducive to my growth, but  I must be ready to share everything I know
with others.

King: The fourteenth guru, oh wise seeker?
Dattatreya: Once I saw a wild elephant being trapped. A tame female elephant in season was the bait. Sensing her presence, the wild male emerged from its domain and fell into a pit that had been cleverly concealed with branches and heaps of leaves. Once caught, the wild elephant
was tamed to be used by others. This elephant is my fourteenth guru because he taught me to be careful with my passions and desires. Worldly charms arouse our sensory impulses and, while chasing after the sense cravings, the mind gets trapped and enslaved, even thought it is powerful.

King: Who is your fifteenth guru, sir?
Dattatreya: The deer, with its keen sense of hearing. It listens intently and is wary of all noises, but is lured to its doom by the melody of the deer hunter's flute. Like the deer, we keep our ears alert for every bit of news, rumor, and gossip, and are skeptical about much that we hear. But we become spellbound by certain words, which, due to our desires, attachments, cravings, and vasanas (subtle impressions from the past), we delight to hear. This tendency creates
misery for others and ourselves.

King: And who is your sixteenth guru?
Dattatreya: The fish who swallows a baited hook and is caught by the fisherman. This world is like bait. As long as I remember the episode of the fish, I remain free of the hook.

King: Who is your seventeenth guru? Dattatreya: A prostitute who knows that she doesn't love her customers, nor do they love her. Yet she waits for them and, when they come, enacts the drama of love. She isn't satisfied with the artificial love she gives and receives, nor with the payment she is given. I realized that all humans are like prostitutes and the world, like the customers, is enjoying us. The payment is always inadequate and we feel dissatisfied. Thus, I became determined not to live like a prostitute. Instead, I will live with dignity and self-respect, not expecting this world to give me either material or internal satisfaction, but to find it myself by going within.

King: Who is your eighteenth guru?
Dattatreya: My eighteenth guru is a little bird who was flying with a worm in its beak. Larger birds flew after him and began pecking him. They stopped only when the little bird dropped the worm. Thus, I learned that the secret of survival lies in renunciation, not in possession.

King: Who is your nineteenth guru, sir?
Dattatreya: My nineteenth guru is the baby that cries when it is hungry and stops when it suckles at its mother's breast. When the baby is full, it stops feeding and nothing its mother does can induce it to take more milk. I learned from this baby to demand only when I really need. When it's provided, I must take only what I require and then turn my face away.

King: And your twentieth guru?
Dattatreya: A young woman whom I met when I was begging for alms. She told me to wait while she prepared a meal. Her bracelets jangled as she cooked, so she removed one. But the
noise continued, so she took off all her bracelets, one by one, until only one remained. Then there was silence. Thus, I learned that wherever there is a crowed, there is noise, disagreement, and dissension. Peace can be expected only in solitude.

King: And your twenty-first guru?
Dattatreya: A snake that makes no hole for itself, but who rests in holes other creatures have abandoned, or curls up in the hollow of a tree for a while, and then moves on. From this snake, I learned to adjust myself to my environment and enjoy the resources of nature without encumbering myself with a permanent home. Creatures in nature move constantly, continually
abandoning their previous dwellings. Therefore, while floating along the current of nature, I
find plenty of places to rest. Once I am rested, I move on.

King: And your twenty-second guru?
Dattatreya: My twenty-second guru is an arrow maker who was so absorbed in shaping his arrowheads that the king and his entire army passed without attracting his attention. Thus I learned from the arrow makes to be absorbed in the task at hand, no matter how big or small. The more one-pointed my focus, the greater my absorption, and the greater my absorption, the
more subtle my awareness. The goal is subtle, and can only be grasped by subtle awareness.

King: Your twenty-third guru?
Dattatreya: My twenty-third guru is a little spider who built itself a nice cozy web. When a larger spider chased it, it rushed to take refuge in its web. But it ran so fast that it got entangled and was swallowed by the bigger spider. Thus, I learned that we create webs for ourselves by trying to build a safe haven, and as we race along the threads of these webs, we become
entangled and are consumed. There is no safety to be found in the complicated webs of our actions.

King: And who is your twenty-fourth guru?
Dattatreya: My twenty-fourth guru is a worm who was caught by a songbird and placed in its nest. As the bird began singing, the worm became so absorbed in the song that it lost all awareness of its peril. Watching this little creature become absorbed in a song in the face of death reminded me that I, too, must develop the art of listening so that I my become absorbed in the eternal sound, nada, that is always within me.
Listening to Dattatreya, the king realized that the wisdom of this sage flowed from his determination to keep the goal of life firmly fixed in his awareness and from his ability to find the teachings everywhere he turned.
